7. Market Street
There is not a town or city in South Africa that does not have a Market Street. I guess markets will allways play an important role in human activities!

6. Jeppe Street
I had the priviledge to have known Carl Jeppe (a psychiatrist) of Johannesburg. He was the grandson of the original Jeppe after whom this road was named. A number of roads, schools and towships in jhb is named after Jeppe.

Bree St (lit. wide Street). The streets in Johannesburg are generally wide since they were used in the early days by ox wagons that had to turn on the streets!

3. De Villiers Street
This is the street running east to west in front (South) of Johannesburg station.
When I was a student at the Rand Afrikaans University (now University of Johannesburg) we had our first rag (we called it "Amok") in the park in De Villiers Street just opposite the station. This was way back in 1969/70.
Here is a picture I took of the old SA Coat of Arms still on the Station Building (Feb 2012). I have noticed that a few of the small mosaic tiles have fallen off. Add a cellphone number to the cellphone directory here.
